Gentlemen:-

I have laid before Secretary Sir E. Grey

your letter of the 22nd ultimo with regard to the

piracy of the Steamship Tai On in the neighbourhood

of Hongkong.

An answer to the points raised in your

letter was given in the reply of Sir E. Grey to a

question put by Mr. Peto in the House of Commons on

the Slst ultimo, to which I am to suggest that you

should refer.
